PEUGEOT is hoping to rekindle interest in its 206 supermini with the introduction of new versions curiously called Zest 3 and an expansion of the coupe cabriolet range.

Starting at £7,995, the 1.1-litre 206 Zest 3 is the entry model to the new Zest 3 range.

Replacing the previous Zest models the Zest 3 has a colour-coded exterior, sports front bumper with fog lights and a special interior trim in either blue and grey or red and grey depending on the exterior body colour.

The Zest 3 is available as either a three-door or five-door model with a 1.1-litre or 1.4-litre petrol engine or as a 1.4-litre HDi diesel.

Air conditioning is available as an option on the 1.1-litre petrol models and is standard on all 1.4-litre petrol and HDi diesel versions.

The new entry version of the 206 coupe cabriolet range is the 206 CC Zest powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine and with a new lower price of £13,495.

Standard equipment includes a mono CD/radio with remote controls, leather steering wheel, sports front seats, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, remote central locking, front fog lights, electric front and rear windows, driver and passenger airbags and power steering.

The second model in the range is the 206 CC Sport at £13,995 in 1.6-litre petrol-engine guise. This version adds 16-inch alloy wheels and air conditioning and is also available with a 1.6-litre diesel engine for £700 more. The 1.6 litre petrol model can also be fitted with an optional four-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox and costs £14,995.

The range-topping model in the revised 206 CC range is the Allure, which boasts digital air conditioning with climate control, leather interior in a choice of black, red and black or grey, Thatcham class-one alarm, a JBL sound system, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, front side airbags and aluminium interior detailing.

Engine options are a 1.6 or two-litre petrol or the 1.6-litre HDi diesel unit. The Tiptronic automatic gear option is available on the 1.6-litre petrol model only.

Allure prices start at £14,995 for the 1.6-litre petrol model and rise to £15,695 for the two-litre petrol and HDi versions.

As an added incentive there is free insurance for buyers aged between 21 and 80 years on all 206 models until the end of May, although GTi buyers must be aged over 25 years to qualify.
