PEUGEOT has announced that its new 207 supermini will cost from £8,995 when it arrives here next month.
Prices will rise to a maximum of £15,345 to encompass the five different trim and equipment levels.
These are divided into Classic and Sport, with the Urban, S and SE versions being part of the former and the GT being allied to the Sport.
Air conditioning is an option on the entry-level S models but is fitted as standard to the SE, Sport and GT versions.
In total there are more than 30 different models to choose from, taking into account the various trim and equipment levels plus the half dozen different engines.
Throw into the equation the choice of three and five-door body styles and Peugeot reckons it has a range with enough broad appeal to rival its main competitor, the all-new Renault Clio.
Petrol engines are 1.4-litre eight and 16-valve units and a 1.6-litre, while the diesels are a 1.6-litre HDI with a choice of power outputs of 70bhp, 90bhp and 110bhp.
Top of the range engine is the HDI 110, which comes in a choice of Sport and GT trim levels and will be joined in a few months by two completely new units that have been jointly developed by Peugeot and BMW.
