IT'S the car that has been a huge hit with almost everyone except thieves.
The Peugeot 407 Coupe has won rave reviews since replacing the slithery but distinctive 406 fast back.
But not everyone is a fan of the Ferrari-inspired French take on stylish GT motoring. In fact, frustrated crooks have been left shouting 'Sacre Bleu!' as the car was recently voted one of the most secure vehicles on the road.
"Ten years ago I could drive off in most motors in under a minute," one car-jacker whined.
"But the immobilisers and alarms got better and better and now it's too difficult to bother."
Ahhhhh... diddums!
Designers have obviously paid a lot of attention to security which is just as well as the 407 Coupé GT is one of the most desirable cars around.
It's a gorgeous looking machine with smooth lines and feminine curves. Its steeply inclined front windscreen creates a low roof-line which flows back to the boot, with its integral dynamic spoiler.
This well-laid out coupé can also comfortably accommodate four adults in the luxurious and sporting interior of a genuinely contemporary GT touring car.
Classy touches include the leather-stitched upholstery on the bucket-style seats, the five dash dials with chrome surround, and the aluminium trim on the fascia and door panels.
The three-spoke steering wheel features perforated leather on the side sections, while even the thumb-rests have a smooth leather finish!
The coupé is powered by a stonking a 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel which gives the car an astonishing 205bhp through a six-speed, sequential, automatic gearbox.
All that means it's very powerful and very fast and passes the 0-60mph mark in just over eight seconds.
The variable electronic suspension aids the super-smooth ride, as does the speed variable power steering. And with the automatic you can simply sit back and enjoy the scenery.
As mentioned earlier, security has been a high priority with all the 407 models - the four-door saloon, five-door estate and two-door coupe - fitted with remote control central locking and a delayed automatic locking function, ideal for those who forget to lock up after parking.
And with a very reasonable combined fuel economy of 33.2mpg, you will not be paying too much for the privilege of driving such a racy French supermodel.
