GENEROUS kit levels come as standard in the Peugeot 407 Coupe including the likes of dual zone climate control, RT4 Multi Media System, trip computer, remote control central locking, CD player and seven airbags.
Should you wish to opt for pure indulgence, the feel of leather upholstery with electric heated seats is available for an extra £1,500.
Driver safety aids are also include electronic stability program and some confidence inspiring electronic brakeforce distribution and electronic brake assist to arrest progress most effectively when required.
A couple of inches longer than its predecessor - which was considered to be arguably the most head turning coupe of the 1990s - the 407 is also wider and, with a sleek silhouette and low roofline, provides ample room for a pair of adults in the rear along with generous amounts of legroom.
The rear seats also house a 60/40 split and fold function which adds further stowage facilities to the already hugely accommodating, family holiday sized 400 litres of boot which also includes a net to help stop items of cargo having to be retrieved from the far corners.
An upmarket elegance to the Coupe cabin hits all the right notes in similar fashion to the finish on a grand piano with a lustrous pearlescent black finish enhancing the air vent trims, door handle inserts and door panel trims.
While there are also aluminium inserts and attractive chrome surrounds some drivers may find the centre console perhaps a little on the busy side.
Although seating is a little lower in the Coupe than the 407 Saloon, the sports seats for driver and front passenger are neatly sculpted and body hugging, delivering a great deal of support to the driver particularly when going round corners.
However, while the front seats also slide forward electronically to assist rear seat occupants get in and out, the big and heavy doors which contain side impact protection tubes, do perhaps require some effort for opening and closing.
Powered by a 2.0-litre 136bhp turbo diesel paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the Peugeot 407 Sport model Coupe proved a hugely capable handler, delivering some impressive stability when going in and out of corners.
However, while the stiffened coupe suspension does affect the urban ride a little, the 407 Coupe does its best work by far when performing as a long legged, very comfortable motorway cruiser.
Finally, should there be any doubt about the 407 Coupe's looks the car's silhouette shows off some highly impressive roadway presence which attracts plenty of head turning.
