LOVED by business drivers up and down the country, the Peugeot 407 guarantees quality, comfort, performance and great economy.
But the accolades don't end there as the competitive asking price is luring buyers away from rival manufacturers in their thousands.
The top-of-the-range Sports model supplied for the test drive oozed quality with bags of excellent features as standard.
For around £22,000, it offers half-leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors, dual zone climate control, automatic wipers, automatic lights, electrically folding door mirrors, cruise control, 18in alloy wheels and a whole lot more.
Inside, there is ample room for four adults and the luggage space is very generous along with numerous smaller storage compartments throughout.
The driver and passenger can adjust their seats every which way to find the perfect comfort level and rear seat passengers have a central arm rest to squabble over.
The 2.0-litre engine delivers ample power and the 407 offers plenty of pace and agility both in and around town and out on the more open road.
It cruises comfortably during longer motorway journeys and to be perfectly honest, the fuel gauge barely moved.
The 407 has been awarded top marks for safety, too, with a maximum Euro NCAP rating of five. Its list of top quality safety specifications is excellent with anti-lock brakes, electronic stability programme, airbags and plenty more. And there is an ultrasonic alarm to deter any unwanted attention.
I spent quite a while trying to find fault with the 407 and the harder I looked the more apparent it became that this car is the complete package.
It may not be the most jaw-dropping of lookers, but its stylish streamlining, smart alloys and neat light clusters are eye-catching.
It may not be the fastest away from the lights, but with a 0-62mph figure of 9.8 seconds, it's certainly no slouch.
And with combined economy figures of nearly 50mpg, it will put a smile on any bank manager's face.
All in all, the Peugeot 407 is the ideal family or business driver's car and with dozens of engine sizes and spec levels to choose from, there is bound to be a model to suit even the pickiest of buyers.
