IT'S one of the most iconic names in motoring history and there's plenty for Porsche fans to look forward to over the coming months.
The process of constant evolution and progress continues at the German marque with the Boxster Spyder and 911 GT3 RS models ready for their UK launch, along with the delivery of the 911 Sport Classic to a lucky few customers.
Further model introductions on the near horizon include the first Porsche hybrid model and new V6 derivatives for the Porsche Panamera.
Last year was once again one of constant activity with the launch of a number of new models and facilities both at home and in Germany.
It saw the introduction of the new generation Boxster and Cayman, plus the Cayenne Diesel, and the motorsport-inspired 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS.
Furthermore, the 911 Turbo marked its 35th anniversary with a new 500bhp engine that underlined its reputation as the definitive high performance sports coupe.
These were joined at the end of the year by the lightweight Boxster Spyder and the limited edition 911 Sport Classic.
And 2009 also heralded a move into a whole new market segment for Porsche with the launch of the Panamera four-door Gran Turismo in the autumn.
This new sports saloon has received a number of prestigious industry awards as the order book continues to grow.
In the UK, the new Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone has flourished in its first full year of events.
More than 12,000 people visited the bespoke Porsche track facility and participated in the range of driving courses on offer.
These include guidance in performance handling and car control, to winter and night driving, as well as race track precision techniques.
Entry to the Porsche ownership experience comes with the sensational Boxster open top sports car which costs £33,998 for the 2.9-litre model while the 3.4-litre S costs £44,492.
And few off-roaders can match the image or performance of the Cayenne 4x4 from £37,158 for the 3.6-litre V6 model, though you have to pay a whopping £75,800 for the 4.8-litre Cayenne Turbo with its 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and 170mph top speed.
