HYBRID technology is set to allow the next Porsche Cayenne to deliver eight-cylinder performance with six-cylinder economy.
To be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the super-clean version in the German firm’s sport utility line-up has a 380bhp petrol-electric powertrain that returns 34.4mpg average econmy.
‘The focus of this vehicle is maximum economy and it reaches this target with either only drive unit in operation or with both drive units working together,’ said a spokesman.
Backing up the 333bhp V6 engine is a 47bhp electric motor capable of powering the car motor on its own for short distances at speeds up to 40mph.
