Hi,
My step father recently purchased a new Renault Koleos (TD 4x4) and requested several options - sump guards, roof rails, towbar etc. As the model was so new he had to wait several days while the extras were fitted. The most important accessory - the towbar for his trailer which he would use most weekends - unfortunately although listed as an option was not available at the time and indeed it took the dealership several days to even locate a part number for it and to date it is still not available from the dealership who maintain the fault lies with Renault. I don't know if this is perhaps the normal process with new models but would there be any reason why this accessory (with part number) is not available? And how may this be resolved quickly?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Answer
Hi Christopher,
This reminds me of a friend who took me speed boating. He borrowed a friend’s Range Rover, got to the yard to pick up his new boat and reversed up to the trailer.
The boat yard staff called out, “Steve, there’s a problem here mate.”
“What’s that?” he said as he strolled to the back of the car. Reaching the trailer he realised the problem was that the Range Rover… didn’t have a tow bar.
So, he took it to a local garage and asked them to fit an aftermarket version. I never found out what his friend made of that.
But the quickest way to solve your step father’s problem may be to do likewise. The national trailer and towing association actually have a list of mobile fitters.
But I also called Renault for you, who say that there really shouldn’t be a problem. So you may want to call Renault Customer care and ask them to help sort the dealer out.
