RENAULT has announced that orders can be placed for its new Megane Sport Tourer range from the end of June with prices starting from just under £15,500.

There will be 21 versions across four trim levels, comprising Expression, Dynamique, TomTom Edition and Privilege, with the top price being £22,785.

Included in the range will be a choice of four petrol engines and five diesels, with eight versions that meet Renault's eco² classification for cars that have CO2 emissions of 140g/km or less.

Standard equipment will include 4x15W RDS radio CD, air conditioning, front and rear curtain airbags, electric front and rear windows, electronic stability programme and roof bars.

Options include 17-inch alloy wheels, Arkamys 3D Sound audio system with Bluetooth and multi-functional TunePoint for portable music players and USB keys, Carminat TomTom sat-nav, electric panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery and bi-xenon headlights.

When the newcomers take to the roads from mid-August they will undercut estate car versions of the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra by an average of £300.

New engines appearing in the range for the first time will include the 1.4 TCe 130, the 2.0 VVT 140 CVT, the 2.0 dCi 160 FAP and the 2.0 TCe 180.
