A HIGH specification version of the Renault Megane is going on sale costing £500 less than the current model.

The Megane Tech Run is a special edition version which comes complete with climate and cruise control, automatic lights and wipers and an entertainment system which can be connected to iPods and MP3 players.

Priced from £13,495 to £16,215, Renault says the Tech Run is not only cheaper than the standard car in Dynamique trim but represents an overall saving of £1,225 taking into account the extra equipment.

Other features include 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, ABS with brakeforce distribution to assist in emergencies, electric windows all round and upgraded interior trim.

Options include Bluetooth phone connectivity, Renault's keyless entry system, parking sensors and electronic stability control - which is available as part of a handling pack.

The limited edition models will be available with 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol engines and 1.5 and 1.9 litre diesel engines.

All models score high when it comes to fuel economy but the greenest is the 1.5-litre 85bhp diesel which can average a claimed 64.2mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 117g/km.

The Tech Run is available only as a hatchback and not on other Megane derivatives such as the coupe cabriolet and estate.
