RENAULT’S facelifted versions of the popular Scenic compact MPV and seven-seater Grand Scenic will cost from £18, 325 and £19,725 when they hit the streets next month.

Both boast a sharper design with more contemporary front styling, plus gloss black and chrome detailing, standard LED daytime running lamps and new rear lights.

The new range also heralds the debut of two downsized engines, the first a 1.5 dCi 110 Stop & Start which is an enhanced version of the French marque’s core diesel unit.

Benefiting from the likes of Stop/Start and brake energy regeneration, it combines record low CO2 emissions of 105g/km and a 12 per cent saving in fuel consumption - up 11.3mpg to 68.9, yet more pulling power compared with the existing 1.5 dCi 110.

And from April, the five and seven-seater versions of Scenic will also be the first Renaults to receive the new 1.2 TCe 115 petrol engine due to gradually replace the 1.6 VVT 110 and offering lower emissions and a fifth better fuel consumption.

Joining them will be the 1.6 dCi 130 Stop & Start, which itself boasts 20 per cent better fuel consumption than its former 1.9 dCi 130 stablemate.

Two new body colours will also be available, Azzurro Blue and Damask Red, and Scenic and Grand Scenic will be the first Renault models to feature the Visio system which combines a lane departure warning set-up and an automatic headlight function.

Also fitted as standard will be Hill Start Assist and motorway-mode indicators which warn other motorists when the driver is about to change lanes by flashing three times following a flick of the indicator stalk.

The 2012 versions will also carry over technologies like the Bose audio system and Carminat TomTom sat-nav.

Just one trim grade – Dynamique Tom Tom – will be available, the range also heralding the Renault 4+ programme worth £900, which launches on February 1.

The package offers retail customers a four-year/100,000 mile warranty, free routine servicing for four years/48,000 miles, four years roadside cover and up to four years finance.

Available as an option on all versions of the Dynamique TomTom except the 1.6 VVT 110, is a new £1,500 Luxe Pack comprising 17-inch ‘Sari’ alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, nine-speaker BOSE sound system, sliding centre console, electrically folding door mirrors and the Visio set-up.

Scenic pricing is from £18,325 for the Dynamique TomTom 1.6 VVT 110 to £21,325 for the flagship1.6 dCi 130 Stop & Start, while the Grand Scenic tab is from £19,725 for the Dynamique TomTom 1.6 VVT 110 rising to £22,725 for the 1.6 dCi 130 Stop & Start.
