AN estate version of Saab’s new 9-5 will be on sale later in the year after being revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
With a maximum load capacity of 1,600 litres the 9-5 SportWagon will be a rival to the likes of the Ford Mondeo estate and Volvo’s V60.
The Saab estate will use the same engines as the saloon version of the 9-5 which includes all-wheel-drive models powered by either 2.8-litre petrol engines or two-litre diesels.
Prices are still to be announced but the saloon range runs from £26,695 to £37,795.
Saab says the new estate will have plenty of practical features in the load bed, including an optional plastic liner while the tailgate will be electrically operated and can be opened by remote control.
The 9-5 is the first of a new generation of Saab’s since the company became independent of General Motors last year.
Orders for the estate can be placed in the spring with first deliveries expected in September.
