PRICES have been announced for SEAT's sporty new Leon FR models which are available in both petrol and turbodiesel forms.
Petrol versions will cost from £17,000 while the diesel models will weigh in at £500 more.
The petrol engine is the same as that in the Volkswagen Golf GTI - a two-litre turbo with 197bhp on tap for a 0-60mph acceleration time of seven seconds.
The diesel offers similar performance and 40mpg economy and both will be on sale this July.
The Leon FR is set off with flared wheel arches, large diameter alloy wheels and a distinctive honeycomb grille.
Compared to the normal Leon models, the FR has stiffer suspension, uprated brakes, sports seats, white dials and a leather-covered steering wheel with the FR logo set into it.
Equipment levels are high and include an MP3 player, climate control, adaptive xenon headlamps and electric operation of virtually everything that moves.
SEAT has high hopes for the sporty model with the previous-generation FR accounting for 40 per cent of all Leon sales.
