LESS means more with a new engine for Skoda's range of family hatchback and estate car models.
With Volkswagen Group's acclaimed new 1.2 TSI petrol motor under its bonnet, the Skoda Octavia has the power to accelerate to the benchmark 62mph rate in 10.8 seconds. But turbocharging and direct injection also allows the 1,197cc, 105bhp engine to spin out average economy of 49.6mpg.
As part of a move to broaden the appeal of the Czech brand, the latest 1.6 TDI diesel engine from parent company VW is also being made available with seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission for smooth and effortless performance.
Both power units can be specified in either body style in S and SE trim levels and the diesel- DSG combination is also on offer in range-topping Elegance form.
Prices range from £13,385 to £19,460.
