Hi
I am looking to change my car and wondering what prices to aim for.
If a car is first registered in Feb 04, but has a 53 plate, which year is used in your price guide calculation? 03 or 04?
Thanks
Answer
Hi
Our valuations are based on the retail prices in the market today. They are based on the year of registration, not the number plate.
So really, if buying privately or at a supermarket you should aim for the 2004 "best" price for your region. If buying at a dealer, or a car in perfect condition, you should aim for between the "low" and "fair" prices.
However, dealers will sometimes claim a "number plate premium," for a car that has the latest number, so there is no reason why you can bear the "low" and "fair" prices in mind when haggling.
It might help you get the 2004 car down to "best" price or below.
