Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0 TDI PD Estate - SKODA OCTAVIA Car Review
Added: 06 Mar 2008
SOMEHOW you just know you're on to a winner when professionals who make a living behind the wheel adopt your brand name.
And Skoda bosses must be dancing in the streets these days as everywhere you look there's a taxi driver weaving through traffic in a Superb or Octavia.
The reasons for their choice could be economy, reliability, comfort, practicality or just good old appearance, but whatever it is the buyers just keep on buying.
Long gone is the sad old Skoda image and in its place is a brand with a reputation for quality build that is respected throughout the industry.
And, believe me, the Octavia vRS doesn't disappoint.
With an on-the-road price that creeps in just under the £20,000 mark, the package is most impressive with a whole host of top-notch features, including tinted glass, heated door mirrors, a six-CD player, air con with a pollen filter and the vRS-design steering wheel and seats.
Add a few optional extras such as rear parking sensors, an electric sunroof and cruise control and you have the complete package.
The interior is both roomy and comfortable with the sports seats offering plenty of support and all dials, controls and levers are ideally placed for driver comfort.
There are plenty of storage compartments including an illuminated air conditioned glovebox and the boot is very roomy too.
The 2.0-litre engine provides plenty of power both in and around town and on the more open road and with its excellent economy figures, the fuel gauge barely moves.
The Octavia comes complete with a whole host of safety features for peace of mind, including anti-lock brakes, airbags, electronic stability programme and an immobiliser to keep away unwanted attention.
And with eight trim levels to choose from there is bound to be something for everyone.
