SUBARU'S large Tribeca SUV is to get a revamp and a new engine for 2008.
Cosmetic enhancements are designed to give the vehicle greater on-road presence by making it appear wider and taller.
Like its Audi Q7 rival, the new Tribeca boasts a grille that is fatter and higher plus a raised bonnet line, a deeper front valence and new headlamps.
There are new rear three quarter side windows, bigger external rear view mirrors, a revised rump and wider tail lights.
Inside there are a few tweaks to the seats to make them more versatile and easier to fold whilst the front console gets a classier look thanks to some resculpturing, greater use of aluminium and ambient lighting. The latest Tribeca is available in five and seven-seat guises.
Mechanically, a new 3.6-litre six cylinder engines replaces the current three-litre unit and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, which results in a raised power output of 256bhp and extra torque which is now rated at 247lb/ft. The new engine provides acceleration to 60mph in 8.9 seconds, a top speed of 127mph and a CO2 figure of 275g/km.
