TOYOTA storms into spring with the new Avensis, the latest generation of Toyota's European flagship and built in Britain in saloon and tourer bodystyles.
With on-the-road prices from £15,760 the all-new, third generation Toyota Avensis delivers more style, higher performance, improved fuel economy and lower emissions.
Built at Toyota's Burnaston factory near Derby, the latest incarnation of this popular model benefits from athletic, contemporary styling, superb build quality and advanced engineering.
New engines and transmissions have been developed using Toyota Optimal Drive technology to return significantly better fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to the previous generation model.
New Valvematic petrol engines and revised D-4D and D-CAT clean diesel units balance driving pleasure with strong environmental performance and reduced running costs. Together they offer the private and company car driver all the power and comfort they are used to as well as the low emissions and fuel consumption they now demand.
The new Avensis is available in saloon and tourer body styles with four equipment grades: T2, TR, T4, and T Spirit. All offer a high level of features for safety, comfort and convenience, with advanced features such as a Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist/Lane Departure Warning (LKA/LDW) and premium satellite navigation system with built-in hard drive for storing music files available in the model for the first time.
The new Toyota Avensis is primed for strong performance against its leading market rivals in terms of holding its value and costing less to run for company car drivers.
Figures released by CAP Monitor show new Avensis outperforming both the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia when it comes to value retained after three years/60,000 miles, making the Toyota a compelling proposition to fleet managers.
The Avensis now shares the platform with the rest of the great Toyota range including the neat little Aygo and the Auris.
But soon there will be yet another star of theshowrooms, the new Prius hybrid car.
With a heritage of more than one million sales worldwide since the original model was launched in 1997, new Prius takes the benefits of hybrid to a new level, promising even better fuel economy and performance and reduced full lifecycle emissions, from manufacturing through to ultimate disposal. These qualities are combined with sharper styling, improved interior space and comfort and a more rewarding driving experience.
The latest Prius remains a full hybrid, a car that can run on its petrol engine or electric motor alone, or on a combination of both, according to driving conditions. It adopts a larger, 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine, while a comprehensive re-engineering of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system brings significant reductions in weight and size, contributing to the overall improvements in fuel economy and emissions.
The model is due to go on sale in the UK this summer.
