ADVANCED technologies plus an extra helping of luxury are the hallmarks of Toyota’s new Land Cruiser V8 set to hit the streets at the beginning of March.
The full-blown 4x4, unveiled earlier this month at the Brussels show, will cost £62,285 and comes in eight colours including a pair of trendy white shades – Pearl and Pure.
With the emphasis on coping with the roughest conditions there are new features like the world’s first Turn Assist, reducing the vehicle’s turning radius when driving through tight off-road bends and Crawl Control, with five speed settings for tackling steep climbs or descents.
Multi-terrain Select, with five selectable modes tailors vehicle performance to different off-road conditions, Multi-terrain Monitor, provides a 360-degree view of the area immediately around the vehicle via four external cameras and there’s also a tyre angle display and power steering with a dedicated off-road setting.
Land Cruiser V8 retains its 268bhp 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission, with adjustments to bring exhaust emissions in line with Euro 5 standards.
And also standard is Toyota Touch Pro, a multimedia and navigation system with a digital tuner, Bluetooth and a rear-view camera controlled via an eight-inch central touchscreen.
The system also delivers on-board internet connection, using a compatible mobile phone and registration via a Toyota customer portal and a premium in-car entertainment package can be specified as an option.
Style-wise there’s a new front with new-look bumper, grille and foglights, plus high-intensity discharge headlamps and LED daytime running lights.
UK models come with black roof rails, side mouldings with chrome details plus 20-inch alloy wheels, while inside the principal changes include new air conditioned/heated front seats, a central cool box and heated steering wheel.
