I'm 43 and need to sell my Prius to release some cash.
I need a smallish cheap car for about £1k. Something Punto sized wld be good. I'm assuming petrol will be cheaper to run. I have two dogs but don't mind putting the seats down if it has a small boot. Ideally only upto 60k miles.
Any suggestions for me?

Hi Jon,
It's never nice to downsize but it will feel great wehen its done. Another £1,00 gives you more options, like Volkswagen Polos and so on, but here are three obvious choices that are cheap to fix:
- Fiat Punto 1.2s from year 2000 with avergage mileage of 68,000
- Ford Fiesta 1.3s from year 2000/1999 with average mileage of 59000 - 63000
- Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 from year 2000/1999 with average mileage of 55,000
Also look at slightly older Fiat Bravas and Vauxhall Astras for a bigger hatchback and while looking at hatchbacks that size, don't rule out a 2001 1.3 Kia Rio with just 43,000 average mileage.
