AN all new Toyota Yaris will be going on sale in the summer featuring a high tech multi-media system as standard on virtually all models.
The third generation Yaris is larger than its predecessors and signals Toyota’s intention to rival the class leading Ford Fiesta.
All but the basic model will be fitted with Toyota’s Touch & Go system which includes full colour six-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, a reversing camera and iPod connections.
Toyota says the system – already in use on the Vero-S compact MPV - will be fitted to 95 per cent of new Yaris models.
Built in France, where the previous model was produced, the new Yaris will be available with three different engines – one-litre and 1.33-litre petrols and a 1.4-litre diesel.
Since its launch in 1999 the Yaris has proved a popular seller fitting into the Toyota line up between the Aygo supermini and Auris hatchback.
The new Yaris is larger inside and out than before and Toyota says the cabin is more focused towards the driver.
Externally it has a new look nose which is more angular than before with a pronounced front grille, swept back headlamps and deep nacelles around the fog lamps.
Prices are still to be announced but the current range starts at £10,730 and tops out at around £14,500.
