DESPITE the recent worldwide recall of thousands of models over possible accelerator problems, the Toyota range has been booming.

The latest version of the top-selling Yaris supermini has entered 2010 as an even stronger market proposition, thanks to a class-leading combination of fuel efficiency and low emissions, backed up by enhanced equipment specifications and styling details.

Thanks to the successful application of Toyota Optimal Drive technologies, the Yaris continues to set standards in its class, with every model in the range delivering sub-120g/km CO2 emissions and priced from £10,258.

The 1.33 Dual VVT-i engine with Stop & Start demonstrates the all-round achievement of Toyota Optimal Drive giving the Yaris more power than its leading competitors while at the same time returning better emissions and fuel economy - 120g/km and 55.4mpg on average.

Similarly the 1.0 VVT-i petrol unit - three-time class winner in the International Engine of the Year Awards - and the 1.4 D-4D diesel maximise efficiency and emissions performance with refinement and driveability. Respectively they produce 118 and 109g/km of CO2 (110g/km 1.4 D-4D with Multimode transmission) and return combined cycle fuel economy of 56.5 and 68.9mpg.

But the Yaris is only part of the Toyota story which starts with the Aygo city car priced from £8,259 and includes the British-built Avensis available from £16,843.

At the moment all eyes are on the Auris - the replacement for the Corolla - which is about to undergo a facelift giving it a sharper appearance inside and out, higher quality materials throughout the cabin and a suspension system tweaked for extra ride comfort and stability.

The Toyota line up also includes the latest generation Prius hybrid, a car that successfully combines petrol and electric traction to produce a very planet-friendly vehicle with emissions as low as 89/g/km in a car costing from £19,505.
