Question

Can you advise me pleae?

My Vauxhall has an oil leak on the drivers side, on the 1.2 ecotec engine near the bottom of the engine. Oil is getting onto the alternator belt. Any common faults or ideas where its leaking in this area please?

Answer

The 1.2 Eco-Tec has a timing chain lubricated by an oil spray and that’s the most likely source of your leak. Check the gasket round the chain cover and the seal in the cover behind the bottom pulley. Not the simplest of jobs for DIY, so you might want to get a garage on the case.
