THE turbodiesel version of Vauxhall's Agila may be the best to drive but it's far too expensive and still doesn't get air conditioning or stability control in Club trim.
It is an amazing £1,600 more expensive than the 1.2 petrol and, quite honestly, that's way over the top. Go for the petrol instead because it will take years to make up the difference.
The 1.3 diesel engine is punchy and strong and can be good fun to drive. It is also smooth and reasonably refined at all speeds.
The Agila is a perky little car to look at, with sharp lines that will appeal to many drivers who are looking for a small car or even those sizing down.
It's comfortable over most surfaces, just upset by bigger lumps and bumps in town.
With excellent steering and a taut chassis, it takes the corners beautifully with plenty of grip and very good balance.
Interior
There is room for four adults with a bit of a squeeze and, despite its diminutive size, the boot is not too bad.
The main drawback is niggardly equipment for the money considering the Suzuki Splash is virtually the same car and much better equipped.
