Question

My vauxall corsa keeps turning off usually in traffic or on roundabouts its been back to vauxall several times on warranty its had lots of parts costing £5000 on warranty the problem persists what can i do
Denise Siniara, Derby, UK

Answer

Denise, I could be wrong, but it sounds like your car is suffering an earthing problem. It is quite common on a Corsa and I am surprised your local main dealer can’t fix it.

It is academic now, because a car still under warranty should not be giving you this much hassle. You need to be firm with Vauxhall and ensure that they solve this one way or another. The other way being to replace the car.

If you need to get attention from Vauxhall, so that this is taken seriously, Government guidelines recommend contacting the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders: www.smmt.co.uk. If that doesn't work, you should contact Consumer Direct for advice: www.consumerdirect.gov.uk.
