VAUXHALL is heralding its new look Meriva model as a car that will open doors to a space revolution.
The latest generation of the popular compact MPV is available for order immediately and has an aggressive starting price of £15,495 for the 100PS 1.4S version.
With a larger wheelbase offering added practicality for buyers – especially those with young children – the Meriva has shifted out of the small MPV and into the five-seat compact MPV class.
And thanks to standard features like FlexDoors, which have rear hinges for ease of access, and a new storage system called FlexSpace, it is set to raise the stakes for innovation.
All models now boast a raft of equipment – the likes of a CD 400 player with MP3 format and aux-in/USB, graphic info display, heated door mirrors, electric windows and electronic parking brake meaning no Meriva can be classed as poverty spec.
Even in mid-range Exclusiv form, the Meriva gets air conditioning, cruise control, curtain airbags and the clever FlexRail storage feature, at a starting price of £16,650 for the 1.4-litre version.
Flagship SE models up the ante further with standard kit like a fixed panoramic glass roof with electronic sunshade, dark tinted rear windows and foldable tray tables on the front seat backs, at a starting point of £17,430.
Entry price for diesel models is £16,875 for the S trim 1.3 CDTi 75PS, and extend to £21,255 for the range-topping SE 1.7 CDTi 100PS automatic.
From launch, all 1.7 CDTi versions will come with automatic gearboxes, with a six-speed manual becoming available soon after.
