Hi
I have a R Reg Vectra 2.CDX
It has developed new fault: cutting out very and then hard to restart.
t also loses revs as driving along but no longer needs to be restarted whilst driving. We have had the sensor on starting motor replaced. We also had the idle valve cleaned and were told it doesnt need replacing.
We really dont wont to replace car if possible but it is starting to cost with repairs. We got caught out with plastic rollers on cam belt collapsing and had to have an engine rebuilt
Thanks.
Answer
The Vectra’s most common misfire problems are caused by moisture getting into the multiplugs in the engine bay – often after they have been separated, as they would have been when the engine was rebuilt.
Give them a good clean, then make sure they’re dry and all the contacts are touching securely when the two halves join together.
For cam belt change intervals (to avoid the engine re-build) see our buyers guide.
