What to look for:
Test drive the car. When you start the car, check for vibration coming from the engine. This will be kind of juddering not unlike the vibration from a washing machine on spin.
What it means:
This juddering could be a problem with the ‘dual mass’ flywheel. This part will need to be replaced.
What to do
If the car is under warranty (3 years/60,000 miles) then VW will undertake the repair for free. If the car is out of warranty try to negotiate at least £800.00 off of the price of the vehicle.
