What to look for:

Open the bonnet when the engine is cold and remove the dipstick. Check the maximum and minimum points that show the oil level. The plastic nub which shows the lower oil level can sometimes fall off into the sump.

What it means:

The sump has a small piece of plastic floating about in it. This can mean removing the sump to find the missing piece.

What to do
