YOU asked for it - so here it is courtesy of Swedish maker Volvo which is launching an all-singing, all-dancing, ultra sporty version of its XC90 SUV in response to customer demand.
Well-healed customer demand that is, for the new XC90 SE Sport will cost from £37,270 to £45,950 when it arrives in showrooms in November.
It will feature a specially tuned dynamic chassis, sharper driving characteristics, distinctive styling and additional standard fittings.
The uprated chassis - developed specifically to suit British roads - features stiffer anti-roll bars, firmer shock absorbers, a sport-tuned, speed-dependent steering system and larger, 19in wheels.
The bodywork has extended wheel arches to accommodate larger five-spoke 19in alloy wheels fitted with 255/50 R19W Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres and satin silver trim rather than the standard chrome, with the lower skid plate also in satin silver. Sill mouldings are in brushed stainless steel.
Inside there are sports seats together with a sports steering wheel and gear selector of perforated leather. The leather seats use a combination of two different grades of leather with contrasting piping, while the instrument dials feature metal chronograph watch-style faces.
Engine choice extends to two petrol - 4.2-litre V8 and 3.2-litre six-cylinder - and the latest 2.4-litre D5 diesel all of which are available with six-speed Geartronic transmissions, while a six-speed manual is offered with the D5.
The new SE Sport joins the range between the SE and SE Lux trim levels, with on the road prices of £37,270 (D5), £38,278 (3.2 Geartronic) and £45,950 (V8 Geartronic).
