NINE years down the line and Volvo’s premium sports utility vehicle the XC90 seems to go from strength to strength.
On the back of 2010 being the seven-seater’s most successful ever sales year, the Swedish company has introduced across the board refinements for its revamped model.
Since its introduction the XC range has expanded via the XC70 and later arrival of the award winning XC60, the full-blown XC90 registering 37,000 sales globally just last year.
And from next month the big SUV will look both more elegant and robust with every car receiving the likes of a redesigned silver metallic bumper bar and roof rails, new daytime LED running lights, a new lower door moulding, full colour-coordination and six-spoke 18-inch wheels.
Interior changes see a more luxurious feel all round, including to the three-spoke steering wheel, aluminium decor as standard and the watch dial-inspired instrument design with white lighting.
The tailgate, which is divided into an upper and a lower section, now comes with a new, colour-coordinated leather grab handle.
An Executive specification adds exclusive options such as soft leather seats with ventilation and massage, while the R-Design version boosts the XC90's sports appeal with a special chassis, redesigned upholstery, inlays, door panels and new Ixion 19-inch wheels.
Volvo On Call can now be combined with Bluetooth mobile phone connection and the system has been upgraded with music streaming from an enabled portable music player.
New too is a mobile app that makes sure the driver can stay in touch with the parked car via an iPhone or Android smart phone.
