I bought an Audi A8 4 litre diesel 18 months ago on a 53 plate which had done 30,000 miles and had the remainder of the warranty (May 07). Since I bought the car I've had nothing but problems including.
- Replacement rear screen
- Front Wheel bearing
- Faulty auto boot lid
- Engine management fuses blowing and limiting the engine to emergency power.
The Service from my local dealership (Maidstone) has been disgraceful and too numerous to list in this mail. But it gets better.... last week the engine blew (rocker). Audi tell me it will cost £16,000 to replace the engine and they have out of "good will" offered pay 40% of the cost. The car has done only 50,000 miles and I am extremely angry that a car that is supposed to be Audi's flagship vehicle does not seem to good for more than 50,000 miles are far as the guarantee goes. My wife also owns an Audi and we would probably be customers for life were it not for this. I like the car very much when there are no faults and I realise that technically because I am outside the warranty I don't have grounds for legal action.
What should I do? Accept the 40% and pay nearly £10,000 to repair the or fight on? Any ideas? Surely there must be a question over whether the car was fit for purpose given its history?
Best Regards
