Cars for Mums

Q&A

Question

My daughter is expecting her third child in a couple of weeks. She has twins of 18 months and requires a vehicle that can take three child seats across the rear seat so that she can deal with them easily while in the front seats. All vehicles we have looked at seem to be capable of taking only two child seats. Neither of them are keen on the people carrier concept!! Currently they drive an Audi A4 and a VW Corrado. Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer

Well, if I cannot recommend MPVs, I cannot recommend the Vauxhall Zafira, that is very popular with Mums because you can just about squeeze three baby seats in side by side.

Does your Daughter worry about her carbon foot print? If not, a big 4x4 is the answer. The Volvo XC90 is a seriously safe family car that will take three baby seats (albeit the oldest may have to go in the second row).

If she does, big saloons with flat rear seats and three-point seat belts include old BMW 5-Series and Honda Accords.
