Hi Philip,
My last car completed 102,000 miles. I drove 58,000 of them (quickly) and apart from a 3mph disagreement with a Heathrow car park barrier, it had no accidents. Nor was it stolen.
This car has completed less than half those miles. It has been crashed at the front, hit up the back, stolen and the auto-box might be temperamental. If it was anything else I would tell you to walk away. But this is a rare car with a following.
There are more 1996 – 1998 models on the market, which are around £6,000 with 65,000 miles. I also saw a year 2000 model with 70,000 miles for £5,500. So this car sounds a bit expensive, but that’s inevitable given the supply and demand imbalance.
How much do you want it? Can you afford to waste the best part of £9,000 or £10,000 if this car develops faults from the accidents? That’s the best price I think you will get it for. Then you may need to spend money on the auto-box and more…
