Question

Hi there, I have just got a rover 25 1.4 IL 16V! PETROL. I really want to know weather mine is the [84ps] or the [103ps]. How would I find this out? As your listings say my model comes in both. Only thing I could say that might help is have aircon.

Many thanks! Judd.

Answer

Assuming the log book doesn’t tell you (it should) and you don’t have the original service book, you could take the air inlet pipe off the throttle body and look for the plastic throttle restrictor fitted to the 84ps. Or you could be clever, keep your hands clean and enter the registration number into any web site that accesses the DVLA database. The exact spec of your car will then pop up on the screen. What web sites? Well you could try the DVLA, but make sure you have the log book handy for the information they’ll want. Otherwise, sites for insurance quotes, second hand parts sales and endless others will return the details from the registration number in seconds.
